Apocalypse Please

Lyrics

Declare this an emergency
Come on and spread a sense of urgency
And pull us through
And pull us through

This is the end
This is the end
Of the world

It´s time we saw a miracle
Come on, it´s time for something Biblical
To pull us through
And pull us through

And this is the end
This is the end
Of the world

Proclaim eternal victory
Come on and change the course of history
And pull us through
And pull us through

This is the end
This is the end
Of the world

Has it inspired you by September 11?

Matt: I don’t know, maybe. We should have worked in the studio when it happened and I don’t know if it had any effect. We wrote the song before it happened, but it might have influenced the rest of the album. (thinks a long time) Apocalypse Please talks about the extrem fear, im sure that everyone felt like this, whenthey’ve been looking at the news the last years. It’s the fact that religion is an excuse to do things that arz in total contradiction with what it teachs. I have difficulties with that. I believe that this song is a sort of fantasy by someone who really believes in a religion prophet that he makes it become reality. If you believe very hard in these prophets, like the end of the world, maybe you would make it arrive?

Matt: "''There's been this religious fear in the air the last few years,'' he says, ''a belief that religion could cause wars. … I'm not a religious person myself. But I wanted to put the mood into words, and I used the words of a religious fanatic.''

This song was called "Emergency" before its release on cd.

AP has an intro on the album. You can hear soldiers walking. The voice you can hear shouting is Paul Reeve

BEN: this is a class song i really hope they make a studio version of this song there is class interludes in between each verse
NaK.: this is beautiful! reminds me of space dementia, i definitely can´t wait for a studio-recording, i hope they make it a bombastic version, muse on its best!
Carl: Fantastic, Matts use of piano always ends up providing a great song, really good.
Harry: The best new song I´ve heard for so far. Just like someone said before me here, it sounds a bit like Space Dementia (which was in my opinion the best track of OOS) and I´d love to hear this on the new album!
Spreus: Magnificent song! I really love it...When Matt lets out almost all of his energy in the chorus...WOW...I can´t understand how they are able to keep on writing the best damn songs ever, that´s what I love about them
Teena: Wonderful piece indeed. Can´t wait to hear this one studioed. Aggressive, yet seductively inwards-turned... very muse-y. I´m imaginig that the new album´s ´theme´ is very audible in Emergency.
Catarina: This isn´t my favourite, yet :) I love Get a grip but this one is getting more and more amazing. Muse is the only band that creates a feeling on me when i hear them... They are the best!
madddy: excelent song!!!!!! lovely, as all, good piano, good music :)

daniel JC lillie: sure this is a great song. In fact every new song from the Muse camp has been great so far, this is a large slice of the new album, and it is giving me a good vibe... The 3rd album is supposed to be difficult, but with these offerings Muse have the right to be called the best band on earth. The emergency MP3 on Kazaa is excellent quality, recorded in Lisbon, it almost sounds like a studio version.Roll on September.........
