House of the rising sun

Lyrics

There is a house in New Orleans
They call the Rising Sun
And itīs been the ruin of many a poor boy
And God I know Iīm one

Oh mother, tell your children
Not to do what I have done
Spend your lives in sin and misery
In the house of the Rising Sun

Well there is a house in New Orleans
They call the Rising Sun
And itīs been the ruin of many a poor boy
And God I know Iīm one

webmaster: so iīll be the first one to review this songitīs a damn great cover they made, better than canīt take my eyes of youitīs good theyīve put a typical Muse sound into it, and Mattīs voice just perfectly fits in it
mikandrewz: Itīs pretty good, i think it lacks something that the original stuff has (obviously) so i didnīt like it at first but its definately grown on me. It seems like the melody is a bit repetitive so they canīt make very much of it. At the moment I would still rate it below the other covers (there are three more arenī there? Feeling Good, Canīt take my eyes off you and Please, Please Please. Have I missed any?).
i: i think this is a feckin gr8 song, theyve turned an ok song into an amazin song, i wud rate it at the top of their covers closely followed by please...., the start is ok i sīpose but after the palm mutin its amazin
Balloon: I like this Intro , sounds like Uno. very good cover!
Macca: very blissy too :0)
Keir: I LOVE THIS SONG!!!! TYPICAL MUSE! FANTASTIC, GR8, Nething else I need say?
Jeroen : i think that its an awesome songits way betet than the original one. they shoud bring a cover-cd out. with songs like the house of... en pleas pleas.... en cant take my eyes.. and they should also cover more because they do it awesome
bellamys bitch (lucy): this is such a bitchen song ,i dont need to say anything else apart from well done muse!!!
Beckeh: I really do like this song, but isnt there a verse or two missing in their version?
Kimmy: This is such a beautiful song, even my mom sang along(well I can tell you, that says a lot about a song)! Itīs just....I donīt know what it is....I mean, the intro is like WoooooooW, you know what I mean? And Mattīs voice is really....itīs pain man, purest of pain! Extraordinary awesome
el sandwich paste: a unique talent of muse is the fact they can cover any song and make it their own, yet still stick to the original. If youīd never heard The Animals version, you could be forgiven for thinking it was a muse original.
Keir Gravil: As I said earlier its one of my favourites, but they should re-release it with the missing verses put back in, that way it makes it that little bit longer. Donīt get me wrong though, I stilll like it, it would just make my CD player buttons last that little bit longer if the song lasted longer. LOL
Kiwi: Ok, I never ever expected they would make it sound SO differently than the original version. As īel sandwichī already said, you wouldnīt think itīs a cover if you didnīt know the original version (ok who does NOT know house of the rising sun :-)But: I was also a little disappointed, because itīs a song for low/deep voices and I think it would have been more interesting if Matt had shown everyone that he can also sing low/deep melodies. And the drummer could have shown us that he knows more than 4/4 times as well but he didnīt instead kept slamming the 8ths throughout the whole thing... so, my conclusion: itīs good but it could have been better@Beckeh: The original version of House of the Rising Sun has 7 or 9 verses as far as I can remember, so thereīs quite a bit missing ;-)
sunter: a very good version of the song. slightly stripped down; a few verses are missing, but like someone before me said, mattīs voice is brilliant for this song. the bliss-esque arpeggios are a nice touch. btw, it said somewhere that the animals wrote this song, which is incorrect; they covered it, like muse. the lyrics were written in, i believe, the 20īs, about a notorious gambling/berlesque house, and the music/chords are derived from an old english folk tune.
musefreak: itīs really a headawayblowing-asskicking version of the song...iīm just listening to it right now...and wow!!!!!!muse have proved again that they are the best band in the world doing their own songs or covering others!!!!!!!!
